Ark Pro Logger Training Offered Onsite at EXPO
We are offering Ark Pro Logger training workshops onsite at the Southwest Forets Products Expo, with three workshops on Friday, AUG 11, and three workshops on Saturday, AUG 12. Participants who attend one workshop, as well as the Expo itself (both required), will receive Ark Pro Logger training module or continuing education credits. Note: YOU WILL BE PROMPTED TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION FOR TRAINING AS A SEPARATE PART OF YOUR purchase of EXPO tickets through our eventbrite Ticket Hub.

FRIDAY, AUG 11, 2023
Class 1: Introduction to the Arkansas Logger Business Training Modules – REGISTER HERE
- Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Description: This course will introduce a series of business training modules to equip loggers with the knowledge and skills related to cost accounting, taxation, insurance, ethics, human resource management, and employee benefits. Planned Presenters: Ana Gutierrez (Economic Research Assistant) and Rebecca Montgomery (Economic Analyst), both with the Center for Forest Business.
Class 2: Union Pacific Crossing Reduction Education and Safety – REGISTER HERE
- Time: 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
- Description: This presentation is targeted to the general public, Loggers, Log truck drivers and designed to heighten awareness of rail safety and to change behaviors around Union Pacific Railroad crossings. Planned Presenter: Buck Russel, Sr. Supervisor Public Safety Union Pacific Railroad and works to prevent highway grade crossing collision and trespasser incidents through education, enforcement, engineering and community outreach.
Class 3: Arkansas 811 – REGISTER HERE
- Time: 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm
- Description: This presentation is designed to help make your logging safer around all underground utilities, as well as regulations and laws in the state of Arkansas. Presenter: Eddie Powell, servers as Damage Prevention Coordinator for Arkansas 811, where he is responsible for promoting cooperation, coordination, and communication among the many entities involved in excavation with the goals to reduce damages and facilitate partnership among those entities.

Class 4: Log Landing Safety – REGISTER HERE
- Time: 9:00 am – 10:00 am
- Description: This presentation is targeted to the general health and safety of loggers. Presenter: Dr. Venessa Casanova, earned degrees from the University of Alabama and Auburn University (PhD in Forestry) with postgraduate training in the fields of labor studies and public health. She joined the faculty of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, TX in 2013 and devotes her time to teaching, research, and service. She is also the director of the NIOSH-funded Southwest Center for Agricultural Health, Injury Prevention, and Education.
Class 5: Forest and Logging Tech Innovations (Emphasis on Drones) – REGISTER HERE
- Time: 11:00 am – NOON
- Description: Presenter Steven Stuart with LandMark Spatial Solutions has been a past presenter and we always look forward to his expertise on new technology. Inventory, assessment, management and harvest planning, sales, marketing — just a few of the tasks that drones may be integrated.
